our culture begets psychological problems. the fragmentation of the self is often only a reaction to how fragmented our society already is. materialism. social image. bullshit.

you don't have to worry about this at all when you're scrapping to find food for dinner. when you don't have a place to sleep at night. when you don't have clean water to drink.

what we have begets the spoiled and the sheltered.

and what too many people don't realize is that it is a fucking luxury to be self-destructive, to feel sorry for yourself. to drive down the streets at ninety miles an hour in the beemer that your parents bought you so that you can get trashed with your friends. to act on some random whim and shoplift for the thrill of it or get "fucked up" or mess with someone just so you can see what happens. so that you can make a fucking mess of your life for someone else to clean up. or to not clean up at all. and complain all the while, because life is so, so terrible.

all i have to say to this is, "grow the fuck up. get some perspective."
